Abstract: At the beginning of 2005, Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania received about 4 million EUR from European Structural Funds under 3rd measure of 3rd priority of the Single Programming Document "Development of Information Technology Services and Infrastructure". It was the first project of this kind ever undertaken in Lithuania and one of the first such projects in the European Union financed by the EU Structural Funds and targeted at creation of the digital content of cultural heritage and electronic services.

The results of the project have proved the decision to provide support to three national memory institutions as reasonable, because actually several major innovations have been achieved.

The report will focus on the efforts by project partners concerning contribution to the "Strategy of Digitization and Access of Lithuanian cultural heritage" and financing program, further development of the methodology for collaboration between memory institutions, aiming to proceed with activities of the established virtual organization, harmonizing of standards, maintenance of the common virtual  e-heritage system and web-portal http://www.epaveldas.lt.
